We are creating a new neighborhood
It’s success will be measured by how well we add to the quality of life in our community. This includes land for a new elementary school for Meridian School District that will accommodate 600 new students. Our team has analyzed the environmental, economic, and social aspects of smart growth in this area, but we are open to new ideas and committed to working in a collaborative manner. We want to hear from you.
These are some of the guidelines we have developed so far:
- A new elementary school site that will serve hundreds of new students
- The ability to integrate an “Early Learning” center
- Requires no public funding for land and no burden on taxpayers since it's part of Larrabee Springs commitment to the community
- Planning now to provide the mix of housing, schools and amenities that people will want into the next 20 years
- Protecting the rural character of our county by being a part of a smart growth plan
- Protecting the health of our planet with a Smart Growth design
- Affordable housing choices for young and old alike, to integrate our neighborhood with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences
- Balancing public amenities between South and North Bellingham
- All of this designed from inception as a walkable neighborhood with alternative bike, ped and transit options
